I am a Democrat but sometimes vote for Republican candidates. For instance, I voted for Bush in 2000 and 2004. Obama in 2008 though. And, I had little notion of just what Obama meant to do except for the national health care promise.
So, if Mitt Romney wins in November I will just have to work with what I got. If Romney wins, it would be very interesting to see what Romney does in January after taking office as POTUS. I see Mitt Romney as being someone who puts practical realities above campaign promises so it is very hard to guess just what he is going to do in the future.
He is kind of like President Chester Arthur in that he could turn out to be a huge surprise both to the party that elected him (as VP though) as well as to his handlers.

Quote about President Chester A. Arthur--"Publisher Alexander K. McClure recalled, 'No man ever entered the Presidency so profoundly and widely distrusted, and no one ever retired ... more generally respected.'" (from above whitehouse.gov linked article)
I do not see Mitt Romney winning unless President Obama takes some very serious missteps or Romney excells against Obama in the debates. Doubt if Romney's VP pick will have much of an impact unless it is someone like the NJ Governor, Jeb Bush, Condi Rice, or someone else with a huge political following.
