I see no need for a water conditioner. Beginning of fifth year drinking it. More bleachy in summer, more bacteria to quell I guess. Refrigerator filter handles it and coffee tastes fine.
I think that comparing to water from home state is kinda like comparing pizza. It never will be the same.
P.S. I got an A in chemistry in High School. I copied off of Martha Washington. She was in the next seat.
