I agree. I have seen very little public intoxication in my short time here. Most of my neighbors don't drink and I belong to several billiards leagues and I have yet to see anyone drink or show signs of drinking at any of them. And as has been pointed out, we are a community of 85,000 people. That's a good sized city in most states. I don't know what the total volume of alcohol sold is, but I'd love to see a statistic of alcohol consumed per capita. My guess is that it would be low based on my experience here so far.

There are various arrests for drunk driving and public intoxication in the weekly police logs in
the Villages Daily Sun on Mondays. Not as many arrests though as would be in a community with a lot more nightclubs, bars, strip clubs, etc.
In support of Villagers, age does seem to bring some wisdom with respect to over indulging in alcohol-- age and diabetes type ll.
