I do know that lack of using the battery in a laptop leads to shorter battery life. Don't keep it plugged in all the time. With the new battery, charge it up fully and drain it down. Every month drain it down and recharge.
A quick check on Amazon indicates a replacement battery. Prices range from $21-$27. Original is $50.I'd trust an non OEM. I use them all the time with other electronic devices including my wife's laptop.
