Sorry for your experience; but I’m afraid it may not be uncommon anymore.
If the speed limit is 35 and I’m going 25, the courteous thing to do is to pull over (when safe to do so) and let any backed up traffic pass – which is what I do. But 35 is the speed “limit”. If memory serves me correctly, there are some highways that have minimum speed limits, but not inside TV.
As the seasonal and year round population increases, maybe a reminder campaign to “share the road” or something similar would be a good idea.
I often am slightly amused when a hurried driver rips around me and we both end up at the next traffic light together. Maybe he/she eventually gets to their destination a few minutes (and, literally, on short trips, it is just minutes) earlier than they would have had they been a little less stressed; I wonder if they ever think that these aggressive driving attitudes increases the risk of the tiny mistake that might take the life of a cyclist, a golf cart occupant, the occupant of another auto, themselves or their passenger.
We should become wiser with age; slow down out there – aggressive driving is dangerous on so many levels.
