Ouch! If the nut wasn't stripped you could do it yourself. My wifes aunt had the same problem in the bathroom. I took off the handle with a hex wrench and then removed the nut holding the plastic valve in place. Below the valve is a domed shaped poly washer over a small spring. All I had to do was lift out the washer and spring and replace the washer & spring. The valve goes back in and then the lock nut. These lock nuts really appear to be fragile. Anyway, it worked for her aunt. Good luck with yours!
