If you are worried about the crime, then stay where you are. I, too, came from an area that was crime ridden, and had murders and gang drive-bys weekly. I was thrilled to leave and Wildwood seems very pleasant by comparison. Frankly, the crime report each week seems extremely mild to me, and most of these low level crimes are related to poverty. I would treat Wildwood/Brownwood the same way I would any other city, at night. Be cautious and careful. It isn't even open yet. I hope people from Wildwood aren't reading this thread because some people are truly an embarrassment. I wonder what the people of Wildwood think of The Villages coming nearer to their nice quiet Florida town.

and ya know what i like most about the businesses in wildwood - the owners and folks who wait on you truly appreciate your doing business with them - and they letcha know it. totally different that other shops where the help hands you your bag, the receipt and then say, "next!"
