LiPo batteries are quite safe, IF HANDLED PROPERLY. There are guidelines for the correct way to store and charge them, that if followed, present no issues. If, for example, they are charged incorrectly or are damaged, they can let out a horrible amount of smoke and possibly catch fire. They are voltage sensitive and if charged at a higher voltage, or charged too fast ............
