They should call warranty, not Whirlpool. The Villages makes the decisions on what appliances are installed in new homes and they make the decisions based on performance and support of the items by the manufacturers.
Warranty is the answer. So...I would call them again and tell warranty what the service tech said. AND the name of the service tech.
On a lighter note....
We have loud noises sometimes in our refrigerator. We are thinking to call a priest to
exorcise it.

. Fortunatly because we are really
OLD, our hearing isn't what it used to be and it doesn't waken us. There are blessings in anything if you look hard enough.
