That stuff is really good dabbed on cheese, like good Irish cheddar.

I read in a food blog that the best way to eat a fresh fig is to cut in half lengthwise and smash the two halves together. Supposed to bring out the sweetness somehow. I never had a fresh fig, so I don't know.
