I've never heard of that and I've been eating them all my life but there is nothing so good as a freshly plucked fig and just bite into it, maybe half at a time will do the same thing. My grandparents put coffee grounds on their fig trees for 40 years and they were the sweetest figs and the trees were always loaded with them.
