In my opinion, a first consideration is, if possible, retain as many of your teeth as your condition will practically allow.

When there are no teeth the jaw bones tend to deteriorate over time (jaw bone gets thinner). Implants do serve to minimize the bone loss....where they are located.....hence a combination of your teeth and implants offers the best for long term jaw bone integrity.

Again this is a function of your personal situation and preferences.
