Both posts by Geewiz pretty much sum it up. Anytime I upgrade I reinstall all of the programs and copy over all of the backed up files to the correct locations.

When I bought a laptop with Windows 7 I forgot to check and it was the 64-bit mode configuration. There are several apps that run on my W7/32-bit system that do not run on the W7/64 bit system.
