Yup and they can mess it up too. I'm only taking out a 5 year mortgage, and probably will pay it off sooner. My husband works in the mortgage industry and I work for Bank of American and I have heard some horror stories for sure from the big banks. It's definitely a personal choice. Once you get to know me, you'll know I wasn't coerced.
