They can't build a space if they don't have interest from commercial entities to lease the space. They are not in the "build it they will come business". Sweetbay, for instance, had a space ready to go near the library but thought better of it and instead have a space ready to build near Brownwood. The rumors are that a big box store or two (heard Dillards and Home Depot) are interested in that large commercial spot to the west of Brownwood on 44.

I don't understand how anyone can make a decision to build where they did and then bitc*** about it. When we all purchased in Buttonwood, or St. James, or Sanibel etc. we knew the landscape. Personally I have no issues. I don't mind the 7 mile ride to Walmart or the 3 mile ride to Sweetbay or the 5 mile ride to Publix etc. etc.

On the other hand think of how many executive golf courses we have (at least from my house) within 2-3 miles. I count 11 (not including the 2 new ones next to the library on 466A)! Plus 2 championship in that same distance with two others only another mile or so. It all depends on your priorities.
