Our inground spa came with the house. All windows and sliders that go on to the lanai where the spa is, are alarmed. Have three screen doors out of the lanai and cage and each has the handle high like you've seen previously. Not sure if county codes mandate the alarm or not, but when it comes time to insure your new beautiful home, you will be asked if you have a pool or spa. The alarm could help a little with insurance costs I would hope. Many have solar for heating pools or spas around the community. We deactivated the alarm for now since every time we opened one of the sliders, the alarm would blast until you reset the button on the alarm....most annoying.
