Purchasing a new hard rive might not fix your problem....maybe you have a problem with your network card or wireless antenna...
I think you said it was a laptop, so worst case, take it over to Best Buy and let the Geek Squad take a look at it...

Good point. I went into my computer and did lots of clicking on MS Word documents and excel and power point files. Although it's not as slow as it is on the internet, there is definitely a delay in opening some small files. I found that triple and quadruple clicking was necessary to get the file open. This is similar to what is happening on the internet sites. I also find that I can hear the operating system struggling as I do this. I think I can install the new hard drive myself. I have a neighbor who can help me if I get into trouble with it. Thanks again!
