Here are a number of thins you can try:

You need to see if the issue is your Laptop or your wireless router. (You did say your wired desktop is OK)? Try taking your laptop to another wireless connection to see if you still have the issues there. Try it at a rec center, a friends house or some commercial hot spot like Starbucks.

You could also invite a friend over with their laptop to see if they have the same connection issues on your network.

Google 'wireless issues dell model number'. Substitute ind your laptop model number. You might find the issue is more common than you think.

Check with dell warranty support, they should have more resources than the Geek Squad.

Network cards are sourced by many vendors and PCM builders change suppliers all the time. You can buy an external USB connected adapter and bypass the internal one. You can get one from Amazon for less than $20.

I; you find that the issue seems to be on the router end (ie. problem only occurs on your home network) it may be a channel conflict. Most users have their routers xmit on the default, out of the box setting. Your signal could be conflicting with your neighbors. Try switching the router to a different channel.
