I cannot recommend a steam cleaner, but I can give you some information on what we did.
We had a very (make that
VERY) high end quarry tile floor laid throughout the living areas, kitchen and laundry room. It was, and still is just gorgeous, but what a pain to keep clean. It has all those lovely rough areas where all sorts of "stuff" gets caught, not to mention the stuff that gets caught in the grout. In my real life I was a researcher, so I researched the cleaners and decided on a semi-commercial steam cleaner which cost about $700. When I spoke to the person in the office she told me right up front that NO STEAM CLEANER, UNLESS IT ALSO VACUUMS UP THE DIRTY WATER, IS GOING TO GET INTO ROUGH SPOTS AND GROUT because you are basically pushing hot water (steam) across the floor and it falls into the spaces that are uneven. Which made sense and I was still stupid enough to buy the .......... machine. I had it about two years and it died ............... so after much more research I settled on a $100 Bissell which does the best it can, and about four times I year I scrub my floor on my hands and knees; and when I can no longer do this I will get someone in to professionally clean it a couple of times a year.
However, I still love my tiled flooring.
