I agree you need to be careful but also life is indeed short you never know when your time is up. If you want something bad enough you will find a way to make it happen. Think outside the box, for example what other jobs are related to social work? are there any jobs that are related to social work that allow working remotely from your home, what companies sell products or services to social work field? do they need consultants with experience in social work? The possibilities are endless if you brainstorm.
