Rise of the Planet of the Apes is quite good. I especially like the scenes of San Francisco and the Red Woods. I used to go there about once a month or so when I lived in Belmont (1984-1986) while working for Information Access Company and later when I lived in the Santa Rosa area while fighting for better information for survivors of violent crimes accessible through libraries (late 1991-1996). Got a nice pat on the back from a UCSF Medical School researcher about my efforts while a subject (# 613) in a study on stress and the unemployed around March 1993. She did not say anything about it until after they had all the blood samples in the 17 week test run though. I used 613 and 224 (birthday) in my massive amount of snail mails and later e-mails in my fight to improve the role of survivors of crimes in the legal process through access to practical information.

Sure miss that city.

You can get the DVD for free if you have a Library Card for the Lake County Library System. They have a lot of fairly new DVDs.

It looks like much of the film was actually filmed in Hawaii and Canada from the Credits.

Sequel may come in May 2014. 'Planet Of The Apes' sequel unlikely to feature James Franco | Film & TV News | NME.COM
