For all the non-North Carolina knowledgables, the North Carolina barbeque is 100% different from what is known as barbeque in Florida. It is not a tomato based sauce - in fact, there is NO tomato in the sauce at all. It is a vinegar and hot pepper sauce and is an acquired taste. Once you acquire the taste, it is what you will call barbeque from that point on!
I do love the ribs at Oakwood, though. I also do like the pulled pork sandwiches at Sonny's a whole lot. Great places and good prices!!

We also love Ralphs and have tried to stop there every time we are headed North (or South). However, we have found the fried chicken to be out of this world good.
