Default Adobe Flash Player

Followed your instructions and here are the results:
After 12 minutes, it was at 50% of install. A dialogue box appeared in the center saying"please close the following program to continue" Internet Explorer. I did that. Then I clicked "Retry".
The install screen came back up for 2-3 seconds. Then the following message appeared "User does not have sufficient privileges.....".
The adobe.com screen then came up with the following message "Adobe flash player did not successfully install".

Before I did this I went into the control panel - user account. The icon with my name on it has the word "Administrator" under it, just like my husband's icon has "Administrator" under his. I selected "change account type" just to see what would happen. There were 2 choices "standard" and "administrator". The standard one was selected. I clicked "administrator" but button at bottom is not highlighted so I cannot change from the "standard". Why would the icon with my name say administrator, but on the following screen say "standard" and doesn't give me the option to change it.
Do you think this could be my problem?
In checking programs and features on the control panel, I now have Adobe Air, Adobe Player II Plug In but the Adobe Flash Player II Active X which was there earlier is now gone.
Thank you.
