Several years back I was playing in a league. Our foursome was the last group in the league and there was a couple who were behind us. We had teed off and the couple was up on the green behind us putting when a ball landed on the green. The husband looked up and raised his arms in a "what the heck" motion (I was carrying my bag and had started walking from the tee box as this was going on). A guy in the group behind them yelled up and said that he was sorry, he didn't expect to hit the green. I was skeptical because he was about 230 out and it was not too large of a green. As we rotated through the hole, same scenario plays itself out with the ball again landing on the green while the couple was putting. The husband looks up, walks over to the ball and putts it off the green and doesn't replace the pin. The guy that hit the green before, was the same guy who hit it while they were on the previous green, so now he (the idiot) gets bent out of shape and runs up to the green yelling at the husband. All of a sudden I hear the wife screaming in terror, so I turned around and ran over, pushing the two guys apart. As I push them I see blood, so now I jump back to make sure that there was no blood on me. It turns out the guy who hit the ball on the green twice in two successive holes, had grabbed one of the husband's irons, snapped it and cut his hand on the jagged edge. After getting things calmed down, the couple and the foursome went back to the clubhouse and the police were called-all because of a lack of patience by someone of questionable intelligence. The couple was not playing slow, they were right behind us and since we had league play going on, it wasn't like they were going anywhere quickly (the league teed off at 5 PM by the way). I am waiting for the day that we hear that some nut pulls a gun on someone on the golf course.........
