Junk the Norton freebie as you don't need it with Microsoft Windows Defender. Like I mentioned more than one anti virus programs running at the same time do not play well in Windows 7 or 8.

The new start screen is designed my Microsoft to allow the same screen to be used on a tablet and Windows phone. Learn one on one device and you have learned on all three.

To get the games just click on the Store tile and scroll over to games. Notepad is still there and I get to it via the Desktop tile. You can also get there by just typing notepad when you are on the Start screen. There is no need to click on anything else.

Here is another thing you may want to try to get over the learning curve of Windows 8. Go to this site ninite.com and scroll down to Utilities. Check Classic Start and then scroll down and click on Get Installer. This will install a start button on the desktop screen just like you had in all previous versions of Windows. After installing it right click on it to see the settings page. Here you can set things up to look like an XP or Windows 7 or Vista start screen. Plus there are a lot of other settings you can play with.

You will notice with the classic view that you turn it off whenever you want and use the desktop in the Windows 8 mode. I am finding that I am using the classic start less and less.

One other thing about Windows 8 is that you will be using the windows key (the key on the keyboard between the CTRL and ALT) more in 8 than ever before. Just go to the Store tile and scroll over to Utilities. Look at the free utilities and install the free Windows 8 cheat key and help apps. There are a lot of short cuts that make life a lot easier working with Windows 8 and all you have to do is find them and get use to using them.
