Try this next time. If the pot is big enough add one or two ham hocks. Cooking time will be a longer but when the ham is tender remove to a plate and shred. Then add the ham back into the soup and serve.

OH Virtual. I forgot the Ham.
I put in cut up pieces of ham that I had frozen. Oh it wouldn't be good without the HAM....Sorry. I will change it above.
