NAMI | Bradley Cooper Speaks Out in National Dialogue on Mental Illness
I did not get the impression that
Silver Linings Playbook uses mental illness for humor. Have not seen the movie yet however. I know some movies and TV shows use "mental illness" labels as a weapon of the powerful to manipulate, punish and/or control those with much lesser power like with
Revenge,
American Horror Story: Asylum and the Swedish and US
Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series.
I am positive these kinds of tactics show up in real life as there was a July 6, 1996 CBS National News report that showed Library of Congress personnel BRAGGING about how well it worked when dealing with certain employees.
The US military have also used such measures against sexual abuse victims.
