I "believe" that when they put the 4 way stop signs on those corners (at the Del Mar gate), the traffic backed up so badly all around that intersection because people not having cards and waiting for the button to work, or the time needed to pull out a card to get the gate up, that the "powers" made that an automatic gate to open without a card. I NEVER use my card at that gate, that's defeating the purpose of the plan. For those who remember that far back, it has great improved the traffic jam on those streets.
The reason for the 4 way stop signs were, there were wayyyy tooo many accidents happening at that intersection. I personally witnessed one and it wasn't pretty, a golf cart and a car. Right after the stop signs went up.
I did not know, however, that other gates automatically went up after a few seconds?? News to me.
