As she approached the gate she was in the middle of the road and not even close to the card reader. I watched her pull up to the gate bar very slowly not to hit it and the gate opened. I know there are sensors in the road to trigger the opening or closing but I am not sure just how close they are to the actual gate.
Next time I am up that way I will take a closer look at the inroad sensors as this was a new one for me.

I don't think it matters how they go through the gate, as long as they don't "crash" it. The gates are there to slow people down and allow for cart crossings at some locations. But, funny how at that same gate yesterday I put my card in and wondered why some women in a cart was almost touching my rear bumper. Than I found out. She drove through the gate right behind me without stopping. Talk about impatient! Fortunately I didn't touch the brakes.
