I had it done back in 2000 at MUSC in Charleston, SC....and I would do it again. I wore glasses my entire life. The day of my Lasik was the first time I could see everything with no glasses. I had mine done mono so there was no need for reading glasses.

HOWEVER.....aging does make a difference. I am back to wearing glasses. Lasik does not prevent the changing of the shape of the eye or stop the thickening of the lens (cataract) or numerous other aspects of growing olders effect on the eyes.

Now I sit here contemplating getting my cataracts removed and being confronted with very much the same decision making as when I was thinking about Lasik.

If you are in the younger age group 50 through 60-ish with healthy eyes, knowing it could be temporary (who knows for how many years) and you can afford it, then by all means do it. Being able to see without glasses has no equal. Being able to buy any type of sunglasses you want was an enjoyable side effect.

Just be sure to make an informed decision as there are many choices...... the most important is the Lasik surgeon. The newer the technology used the better.

Good luck.
