Flooring that is installed on a slab should be done with quarter round. Reason being, wood expands and contracts and at least 1/8" needs to be factored in for that expansion. If not, after a time buckling might occur. A friend of mine insisted that her installer remove the baseboards and had to have the entire floor replaced after two years. Not to say it will always happen, but problems can occur. Be careful.
