Living in CT, I have felt in the past it was safe except for a snow and or ice storm that was very rare. Driving and getting around is the biggest pain in the rear. I too was concerned about hurricanes and sinkholes. With all that being said, I feel the advantages of living in TV far outweigh what risk there may be.
In the tri-state region we have had Hurricane Sandy and the 30 inch snowfall last month and are due for another snowfall, so no place is ever totally safe. Anyone that says different is not dealing with reality. I feel that sinkholes are to be a concern and it's prudent to have insurance. I think the likelihood of a sinkhole is a rare occurence but is somewhat possible.
There are no guarantees in life.
