My 89 year-old Mother-in-Law loves visiting us in The Villages and she Looooves having her own Villages Guest ID, even though she doesn't use the pools, golf, pickleball, tennis, etc... She proudly shows her guest ID at Katy Belles & the rec centers. Having the Villages Guest ID is a BIG deal to her. (I think she has kept every one that was issued to her since we moved here ;-)

After having some health issues, she will be moving to an independent living facility near us next month, in Sumter County. I checked the District Gov website to see what I could do to get her an In-Area guest pass, and this is what the website says:

". . . A resident who has a son, daughter, grandchild or great grandchild (and their spouses) who reside in Lake, Marion or Sumter counties may apply for an In-Area Guest ID card. . . The In-Area Guest ID card for qualified family members is valid for one (1) year from date of issuance."

Are these the only relatives who are covered by the In-Area Guest ID card? What about my husband's 89-year-old mother? Does anyone here have any experience with a situation like ours? Has anyone had their mother move nearby?

What would she use it for, you ask? Maybe nothing... but this woman LOVES having her Villages Guest ID! lol I would really like to get one for her if I can.
