Admittedly, chances are slim that you will get a ticket for driving your "golf cart" 21 mph instead of the legal limit of 19.9. But that's not the point!
What's important is that if you are involved in an accident (no matter who was at fault technically), if it can be determined that you were going faster than 19.9 mph, then you will be cited for driving an unregistered vehicle. And if you have "golf cart" insurance, you carrier will pay NO benefits because the vehicle you were driving does not fit the legal definition of a golf cart.
So you were in an accident, you received a citation, and you have no liability insurance to cover any injuries or property damage.
Think about it. Is it worth it to be able to drive your cart 1 or 2 mph faster than the rest?
