The CDC typically deals with disease outbreaks such as salmonella, shigella, and c. diff while the FDA is responsible for food safety and inspection. Sadly recent federal budget cutbacks have decreased the ability of the FDA to monitor both domestic and imported foods.

Yes, it was basically about disease..........not inspection.
