I have been on Tricare Standard since I retired and do not regret it for a moment. I do however have a supplement though through ASI. I get to chose my docs, no referrals necessary, and no hassles...it has been wonderful for me and my specific medical issues. I no longer wait weeks for medical care, in fact since I have been here I have not had a problem getting a same day appointment if necessary.

There are docs who take prime, standard and TFL in and around the Villages. I found out the hard way that when you call a new doc you must have them specify which Tricare plans they accept. I went to an Internist only to find out he accepts TFL and not standard or prime.

I don't give recommendations on specific doctors, but there is an Ask a Nurse Program at The Villages Hospital who will go over your personal medical needs and assist you with finding the right provider (s). It saved me a lot of time and effort. Additionally, they were able to provide the doctor's credentials and certifications on-the-spot. Both doctors that were recommended to me are indeed very good.
