If I am thinking of the correct gate, it does not require any action such as a pass or pushing the button. Just drive up and it opens.
How did I learn this?
My wife and I were coming home with a takeout pizza and came to the gate. In front of us was a woman clearly having issues getting her gate pass out and opening her car window. Fifteen'ish seconds or so had passed. In the mean while someone in the cart behind us was yelling “Just drive up it opens” <over and over>. Finally I see a hand come out the window with the gate pass, but she cannot reach….. When I saw this I hopped out of my cart and used my card to open the gate for her. The woman said thanks and I told her “they say the gate just opens if you drive up to it”, and I hear from behind me in no uncertain terms “IT DOES”.
I then proceeded to use my gate pass to go through as normal, the ‘gate experts’ cart behind me zoomed right through with me and tailgated me until their turn off … Kind of gives me the warm and fuzzies all over…
The moral of the story, relax, help if you can and tail gaters
