We had seven cats down through the years (not all at once). Never did anything special from one to the next as to eliminating scents, but we usually had more than one cat at a time, so the new one, usually a kitten, kind of knew it was low man on the totem pole.

We once put a Siamese adult and part Siamese youngster together (not by choice), and they became such fast friends we gave the youngster to our son when he left home with the Siamese so as not to separate the cats.

I think the differences are 1. We always had them neutered as soon as medically advisable, and 2. don't shoot me, but all but two were males, and they were the most friendly and affectionate. The two females were aloof.

Our favorite, Fletcher, an orange an white tabby, lived to be 20. By far the very best cat ever.
