I lived in NYC for my entire life before moving to TV. In my entire lifetime there, I never knew anyone who had guns or carried one around with them. For many years NYC had it's problems with crime - the 60's through the 80's. It was considered by many as a dangerous place to live (although I never felt that way). Even with all that, no one I knew ever felt he need to carry a gun. We just do not have that mentality. I was shocked

when I first learned that here in Florida people walked around carrying concealed weapons. I must say that information gave me a moment of pause. I felt unsafe with the thought of people sitting around in the squares in the evening drinking alcohol and carrying guns. I got over it though. I still do not like the idea but I rarely think about it anymore.
I am sure that the individuals who feel the need to carry a gun would not understand my views on this, just as I do not understand their need to carry a gun.
