The minimally trained 70 year old in a highly chaotic situation is not going to do nearly as well as the cops and soldiers. I am troubled by the contention that if only there had been bunched of armed civilians all unloading their weapons in the theater in Colorado all would be well. Far more likely they would have had a horrific circular firing squad shooting at each other and potentially increasing the carnage.
