I am not sure since I never took them off. The car was amazingly maintenance free. About all I did was change the oil, the oil and air filters and lube it, put in new spark plugs (frequently) and adjust the timing. I bought my tires from a company called Market Tire, I think, which warrantied them for miles. I always wore them out long before the warranty ran out and had them replaced at whatever discount applied. The following paragraph is from Wikipedia. Apparently the compression ration was 11:1, not 10.5:1. Senior moment, I guess.
L-78: produced 1965-9, had 800 cfm Holley carburetor, 11:1 compression, forged pop-top pistons, aluminum high-rise intake manifold, steel crankshaft, solid lifter cam (same as the L-72; except in 1965 Z16 Chevelle), rectangular ("square") port closed chamber heads, and four-bolt main caps. It produced 375 hp (280 kW) in mid-size cars, 425 hp (317 kW) in Corvettes.[3]
I put in a Geharty(sp?) dyno tune kit which supposedly raised the HP to 425.
