How does one choose the favorite among the children?
First car was innocent looking red 63-1/2 Ford Fairlane with 289 High Performance Mustang engine (11 to 1 compression). 271 horsepower factory before mods, solid lifters (which I adjusted every Saturday for optimal street dragging performance),
3 speed on column which I put a Hurst shifter on floor. Added aluminum high rise manifold and cut outs and Holley quad carb from Corvette. It could keep up with you 442 guys and vettes!
Traded it on 66 Corvette Stingray 427/390. Silver with silver interior. 4 speed. Good thing I played in a rock band to pay for it. All the girls in Jr. College liked me until I sold it!
Later there was the 63 Corvette Stingray split window coupe. Black with red interior. 327. Was in college and had to sell it because I couldn't afford to fix the bad rear end. Got $1,000. for it. (Yeah, check today's prices!)
Then there was the 58 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud I. Oh, gee!
For you British car enthusiasts, there was a great show for them in Pensacola last weekend. Over a hundred cars of all types. Great fun viewing them. Brought back wonderful memories. Always wanted a TR-6 for some reason. They had a live Beatles tribute band playing. Really nice day!
