The best response, in my view, for the issue of surgery came from Peggy Noonan who when asked about facelifts, etc stated "Beauty belongs to the young."

Ever since i was a kid I just seen to graviate toward old folks. Found their stories to be fasinating, study the lines in their faces and hands and paid attention to how so many of them had reached that stage in their lives when the pretense could be dropped life appreciated so much more, etc.
You are so much like many of the friends we have..........we've always included the older neighbors, whom we found fascinating, in our neighborhood get togethers when we were young parents........and were enriched by their company, their wisdom and their wonderful humor.
We didn't expect them to be any different than their natural selves......
We enjoyed them "just the way they were". Sad that people cannot just age gracefully as they did in the past............

Yours were the words of wisdom. Your wife is lucky to have you, as you are to have her.
