Or...Anonymous jabbing at America's Friendliest Retirement Community.
I think the worst jabs are by people who NEVER give us a clue to their identity or their agenda. For instance, I think that a lot of people who don't like the developer represent businesses in competition or sit on the other side of the political aisle from him or don't like how succesful he is.
There is a lot of class envy. There is a lot of anger having nothing to do with what happens on this forum, some folks are bitterly unhappy about life in general and perhaps need medical help. There are those who sadly cannot arrange life to be able to move here and they feel left out and sad. There are those whose relationships are not rewarding or whose children are in trouble and those who have failed to meet the dreams they had for themselves. There are those who have had a long and awful string of luck and those of us who are happy all of the time are angry making to them.
I try really hard to understand what makes people tick and sometimes I am annoyingly happy. I can only say that I have not always been and I have paid my dues.
Let's all try to put the things that divide us behind us. We can't agree on politics or on philosophy but we can agree that there are fewer years ahead of us than behind us and that we have been dropped here in The Villages for the remaining years of our life. We are old (er) people and we have strong ideas. We want to defend them and make others agree. That isn't going to happen. Just zero in on a wrinkle or a bent back or keep in mind that Alzheimers could strike us tomorrow, or a wayward golf cart and we would no longer be here.
People who are the most unlovable often need our love the most.
End of sermon.
What do I know?
