Check the recreation news in today's Sun. It lists violations by golf carts in Sumter County:
EXTRA! EXTRA!
The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office presents a quarterly report to the Village Community Development Districts 1-3, and 5-8 of traffic infractions in the
Sumter County portion of The Villages.
Between Jan. 1 and April 8, the SCSO issued 658 traffic citations in the Sumter
County portion of The Villages alone. In addition to that, during the same time,
the SCSO issued 71 golf cart citations. The vehicle citations ranged from items
such as unlawful speed and improper braking to not wearing a seat belt. However, more than 50 percent of the citations issued to golf carts were for running a stop
sign and more than 20 percent of the citations were for operating a golf cart without
a registration, which is issued when a golf cart exceeds the 19 mph speed limit.
Please continue to keep the safety of yourself and others in mind when you
are traversing throughout the community!
