Chemical drugs costs to put a new drug on the market maybe can be done for $500K but then consider that there are also the Biological Drugs where some are even developed for a certain persons genetic makeup can run many times that amount. We cannot expect companies to put out the money to develope and test a new drug and not make a profit at some point. Many trials are stopped before completion and other drugs are never approved so the money has to come from somewhere. It is sometimes annoying to hear the commercials but any symptom experienced during a trial must be mentioned even if the drug did not cause it and only one person had the symptom. During some trials a drug being trialed for one disease or condition is sometimes found to help another disease or condition even more than previous treatments. We should be thankful as expensive as they are that the lifesaving drugs are available. Those chemical drugs like Viagra and the T replacement drugs doubtfully will ever save a life but apparently a lot of people do think they need them. Lifestyle and eating right will only get people so far and as we age a lot of people continue to live their lives thanks to the drug industry.
Future drug related liabilities are a big cost issue as well. A recent Alabama judge ruling stated a consumer though taking a Generic drug could sue the original company that developed the drug even though they had no control over the manufacturing of the Generic. Courts gone wild..

Just more food for thought....
Clinical Trials and Investigational Drugs
We know people who were in clinical trials and probably given the placebo......or else the drug definitely did not work as the outcome was not good.
