Pierre-Simon Laplace - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Napoleon made a small
splash in the history of science with his support of the astronomer Pierre Laplace whom he made Minister of the Interior. He only lasted six weeks in the position however probably because Napoleon needed a very respected star in his cabinet to brighten the image of his government. It got rather
smoggy after Napoleon replaced mathematician Laplace with one of his many brothers. Laplace did some interesting work on the
orbits of the moon and earth.
