Not golfer is right. Winter of '09-'10 was extremely cold. Since I came from Southern CA, I didn't have very many heavy clothes but I did use a heavy 3/4 coat that I used for when I traveled north and many long sleeved sweaters and sweatshirts and long pants. So don't get rid of all heavy clothes, keep some. Thankfully, we haven't had another cold winter like that, it gets cold but not for months.
