Hmmm. Most pools SHOULD have a drain valve by your pump. I connected a hose to mine, let the pump keep running, turned on the valve, and let it drain in the driveway. I was told probably wouldn't hurt the yard, depending on the pool and chlorine levels, but why take the chance. I drained off at least 4" of water so far. Easy to do. I am surprised why T&D didn't tell you. It is used for this reason or IF you have to drain the pool for maintenance without using a sump.
