We bought a Sony Bravia flat-screen TV and before a year was up, it died. I contacted Sony and found out that was still under warranty. They would send me a new one with a 1 year warranty or a rebuilt one with a 2 year warranty, we chose the 2 year.
Come to find out, it is a known issue and a very easy repair. Before throwing it out, talk to a Sony repair person, or go to the Sony site.
You might find that it is worth fixing.
